Bremworth Marlo, in the showroom

A textured loop in 100% New Zealand wool, in six colours. This is the note we wish people had read before they asked for "the soft beige one".

Bremworth Marlo wool carpet

Marlo is a contemporary textured loop. The yarn is 100% New Zealand wool, and the surface has a tonal shift rather than a flat, single colour. That is the whole trick of it, and it is why a tiny screen swatch lies. Shell and Honey can look like the same family until they are on the floor.

The six colours on our page

Shell, Honey, Toasted Rattan, Silvered Sky, Mineral and Carbon. The Marlo page has each one large enough to judge. Carbon is the dark end. Shell and Honey are the light end. We will not add a seventh colour here because it is not on that page.

Where we suggest looking at it

Living rooms and bedrooms that want texture without a printed pattern. If the stairs are the main route through the house, say so before you fall for the softest colour. A loop can be right on a stair and it can be the wrong construction. We decide that on the flight, the same way we do for any wool. Stair runners is the other option when you want timber at the sides.

How a visit works

The showroom is 4 Brolga Avenue, Southport. Weekdays 8:30am to 5pm, Saturday by appointment. Samples can go home. The measure and quote at the house is free, and it includes take-up where the old floor has to come out, underlay, the carpet and fitting. Marlo sits with the other Bremworth loops — Galet, Poraka and Samurai — on the premium wool page.

We are not restating a wear warranty in this note. If a warranty matters to the job, we will read it with you against the sample.
